Hélène Carpentier, originaire de la région lilloise, réside actuellement sur la Côte d’Opale, près du Cap Blanc Nez. Par le passé, expatriée en Espagne puis en Angleterre, elle a exposé en solo à Oviedo et lors d’expositions collectives à Canterbury.
En tant que peintre contemporain, elle se tourne vers l’abstrait, à l’acrylique, mais garde un coté figuratif avec l’encre.
L’artiste utilise des pigments minéraux naturels qu’elle collecte sous forme de pierres ou terres sur les plages de sa région pour créer la majorité de sa peinture acrylique. Ses œuvres, inspirées par la nature, le végétal, le minéral et l’océan, incluent également des créations à l’encre, où elle apprécie l’imprévisibilité de ce médium, qu’elle allie à l’eau de mer, créant ainsi, grâce au sel, une manipulation et des effets différents.
Pour l’artiste, la peinture représente une forme de méditation et une nécessité qui lui permet de s’évader, tout en étant bien ancrée dans l’instant créatif. En évoluant du figuratif à l’abstrait, elle privilégie le lâcher-prise et l’intuition, se concentrant sur le ressenti, le toucher de la matière, et le processus créatif. Son travail vise à exprimer la beauté de la nature et à établir une connexion profonde avec la terre et l’océan.
A sa façon, elle souhaite oeuvrer à la préservation du fragile, interpeler sur l’érosion de la côte, sa destruction de par la montée des eaux, et le réchauffement climatique.
Les pigments minéraux naturels sont des sédiments, façonnés par la vie, par le temps, par l’histoire de notre planète. Cette histoire, l’histoire géologique de la Terre, qu’elle dépose sur sa toile, associée avec sa propre histoire et son vécu de simple être humain.

Hélène Carpentier, originally from the Lille region, currently resides on the Côte d’Opale, near Cap Blanc Nez. By the past, having lived in Spain and then in England, she held a solo exhibition in Oviedo and participated in group exhibitions in Canterbury. As a contemporary painter, she specializes in abstraction while maintaining a figurative aspect with ink.
The artist uses natural mineral pigments that she collects from the beaches in her area to create the majority of her acrylic paintings. Her works, inspired by nature, plants, minerals, and the ocean, also include ink creations, where she enjoys the unpredictability of this medium, which she combines with seawater, thus creating different effects and manipulations thanks to the salt.
For the artist, painting represents a form of meditation and a necessity that allows her to escape while being deeply rooted in the creative moment. Evolving from figurative to abstract, she prioritizes letting go and intuition, focusing on feelings, the touch of the material, and the creative process. Her work aims to express the beauty of nature and to establish a deep connection with the earth and the ocean.
In her own way, she hopes to help preserve what is fragile, to raise awareness about coastal erosion, the destruction caused by rising sea level, and climate changes.
Natural mineral pigments are sediments shaped by life, by time, by the geological history of our planet. This history, the history of the Earth, that she lays down on her canvas, combined with her own story and experiences as a simple human being.
She welcomes visitors to her studio by appointment.
